General characteristics: Clary sage essential oil is one of the most important feminine oils in aromatherapy. It has strong aphrodisiac effects and broad therapeutic use, especially when it comes to feminine beauty and health.
Therapeutic properties of the oil:
Immunity – bacteria, yeasts, infections, fungi, inflammation
Pain (analgesic) – spasms, cramps (menstruation – thanks to its high content of linalyl acetate), headache, migraine
Respiratory system – inflammation of the bronchi/lungs, cough
Circulatory system – regulator of blood circulation, suitable for varicose veins
Hormonal system – thanks to sclareol, the oil has an effect similar to oestrogen, a feminine tonic, regulator of the menstrual cycle, mood swings
Genitourinary system – inflammation
Digestive system – nausea, digestive problems, flatulence
Diuretic – suitable for use in treating cellulite, swollen ankles (stimulation of the lymphatic system), tired legs
Calming effects (sedative) – insomnia

Tip for harmonising feminine energy (mood swings, etc.):

  • 2 drops clary sage + 4 drops mandarin, mix into base oil and add to the bath

Tip for relief from menstrual pain and tension:

  • 2 drops clary sage + 2 drops geranium + 2 drops orange – mix with 1 tbsp of base oil and apply as a compress to the lower abdomen

Important warning:  Keep to low doses. Use for a maximum of 8 days. Strictly contraindicated in hormone-dependent cancers, mastopathy, fibroids. Diffuse for max. 2 x 30 minutes a day and a maximum of 2 drops, combine with milder essential oils.
