'Om Shanti' is the basic/version of the Shanti mantra.
The Shanti Mantra is chanted to invoke peace and is very widely used in Hinduism and religions such as Buddhism and Jainism.
The Shanti mantra is usually chanted three times, because "Om Shanti, Om Shanti, Om Shanti" – Shanti is repeated three times because it is chanted for peace in body, mind and spirit.
It is also chanted three times so that the past, present and future may be peaceful.
Use: Place the incense stick in a holder designed for this purpose (so the ash from the stick has somewhere to fall). Then light the stick and let it burn briefly. Extinguish the flame with a wave of your hand and let the stick simply smoulder. If you don't want to use the whole stick, you can put it out while it is smouldering by pressing the smouldering end against a fireproof surface.
