The bundles are made from the silvery-white leaves of the Salvia Apiana plant, which grows on the coast of California. It is a sacred herb that shamans have used for centuries in cleansing rituals. This purifies not only the environment you live in, but also the mind and all its thoughts. White sage has a sharp, pungent scent. Smoke from sage is purifying and disinfectant (it acts against both viruses and bacteria), and it also repels insects.

Use:  Besides the sage, prepare a fireproof container, matches or a lighter, and optionally a feather (not essential) for wafting the smoke, plus sand or salt.

Light the bundle, let it burn briefly, then blow out the flame and let it smoulder in your hand or in a container or a bowl made of fireproof material. The smoke can be wafted around the room by hand or with a feather. A few minutes are enough to achieve the effect. Before performing the ritual, it is a good idea to air out the room.

Cleansing spaces: When smudging a space, move around the perimeter, including all corners and alcoves, wafting the smoke from the walls towards the centre of the room. Keep the windows and doors closed.

After finishing the ritual, extinguish the bundle (e.g. by smothering it in a bowl of sand or salt), cut off the end, and you can use the rest of the bundle next time. The bundle can also be extinguished with water, in which case it can only be used again once it has dried out. Leave the smudged space and let the healing smoke work for at least 15 minutes. After this time, you can air out the space again.

The bundle can be used not only to cleanse spaces, but also to cleanse various objects and people. The scent and smoke support health and memory, and cleanse both body and mind.

Cleansing a person: The person you are going to cleanse stands in front of you with their arms outstretched. Begin moving the smouldering bundle with gentle movements from the lower legs up to the top of the head, passing over the front and back, also around each foot, under the arms and between the legs, around the temples and face.
