Product detailed description
Whole strands of high-quality Spanish saffron in a plastic box.
Saffron grows mainly in Spain, which is also where the highest quality saffron comes from. Saffron is the most expensive spice in the world and in fact also the most expensive food - by weight. Saffron has a golden-red colour and a hay-like, slightly metallic aroma. It has a high vitamin B content.
The spice is obtained from the dried red stigma of saffron. To produce one kilogram of the spice, 120,000 saffron flowers are needed, which are of course picked by hand.
In Spain it is a key ingredient in fish and rice dishes, the French also most often use it with fish, the Italians in risotto, and in Britain it is most often added to sweet cakes and liqueurs. Many Indian cooks also add a strand of saffron to the spice blend used to flavour basmati rice.
Ingredients: single-ingredient whole saffron spice.
