The variety Kesar is one of the most highly regarded varieties of Indian mango worldwide. It gets its name from the vivid orange colour of its flesh, which strongly resembles precious saffron. While the Alphonso variety is built on purely creamy sweetness, Kesar will captivate you with its intense, deep aroma and honeyed taste with a subtle, almost spicy undertone. The purée has a perfectly smooth, more liquid texture with no unwanted fibrous bits.

Mango in Ayurveda

In ancient India, mango was rightly known as the „fruit of kings“, and owning mango orchards was a mark of the nobility's high social standing. Traditional Ayurveda regards a fully ripe mango as a warming and purely sweet gift of the earth that naturally balances all three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and supplies the body with quick vital energy. It acts as a great source of plant fibre, contains effective antioxidants and is rich in vitamins A and C, which play a key role in supporting the body's natural defences.
