Peru lies on the western coast of South America. The country's climate is highly varied, ranging from a tropical climate in the eastern lowlands to desert along the western coastline. For coffee, however, the most important area is the Andes mountain range – it is on the eastern slopes of these mountains that coffee is grown.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Only Arabica is grown in Peru, mainly the Typica and Caturra varieties. Up to 95% of the coffee comes from smallholder farmers who own just 2 – 3 ha of land. These are mostly farming families with a long tradition of growing coffee. Being smallholders, they hand over their perfectly ripe red cherries to a processing station, which buys the cherries from them at fair prices. The Juan Marco El Palto processing station, which supplies this coffee, has already received various certifications, and its long-term goal is to take part in the Cup of Excellence regularly and achieve top placings.

100% Arabica
Roast level: Full City
Pack size: 200 g (whole bean coffee)
the label is made from recycled coffee waste

Coffee flavour

The coffee has a full, strong body. The flavour is dominated by sweet, chocolatey notes with an undertone of cocoa. The aftertaste is mildly acidic and bitter, reminiscent of orange and grapefruit peel.

Coffee origin

Caturra, Typica and Catimor coffee plants are grown in the Peruvian Andes, in the El Palto region, in volcanic soil, at an altitude of 1300 – 1800 m above sea level. The coffee is processed using the wet method and then sun-dried. Hand-picked and hand-sorted.
