Fibre is extremely important. It passes through the stomach  undigested and ends up in the large intestine, where it feeds friendly gut bacteria, leading to various health benefits.

Some types of fibre can also support weight loss, lower blood sugar levels and fight constipation.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends consuming about 14 grams of fibre for every 1,000 calories you eat per day. This means roughly 24 grams of fibre for women and 38 grams for men.

Acacia fibre

Acacia fibre is a type of soluble fibre obtained from the sap of the acacia tree. As part of the diet, soluble fibre can contribute to regular bowel movements. It also acts as a prebiotic that supports the vitality of microorganisms that help maintain a healthy microbiome environment.

Chicory inulin

This substance is often used as a sugar substitute for diabetics, since it consists mainly of fructose. However, inulin also plays an important role in detoxifying the body – in the intestines it acts as a soluble fibre, provides energy for gut bacteria and helps build a healthy gut microflora.

Agave inulin

The most common way to consume agave is processed into a natural sweetener. Agave is available in many forms - nectar, syrup and inulin. Although agave nectar and syrup are similar, inulin is nutritionally completely different from the other two.

Inulin is a soluble fibre found in plant roots and is also known as a prebiotic. It strengthens the body's immune system. It protects the gut from other harmful bacteria.

Bromelain Enzyme

Bromelain belongs to a group of protein-digesting enzymes that attack the internal peptide bonds of a protein chain. While fruit bromelain, an acidic protein, is present in fruit in modest amounts, bromelain used as a dietary supplement is obtained from the pineapple stem. Bromelain is easily absorbed by the body in the gastrointestinal tract and remains functionally intact.

Use

Add 2 teaspoons (6g) to warm or cold water, tea or another favourite drink. Can also be added to porridge, smoothies, pudding, etc.
