Detailed information

Product detailed description

Our unique copper drinking bottles, jugs, water containers and cups have been handmade in India for centuries. Precisely because they are handmade, each piece is unique and may therefore differ slightly from the photograph. Imperfections in the material may also occur: this is part of the natural properties of copper.

Glass volume: 500 ml

Why you'll love it

  • Handcrafted from pure copper with a warm, timeless shine – each piece is one of a kind and will beautify both your table and kitchen.
  • A stylish and practical companion for your hydration routine that will make you reach for water more willingly and more often; water from a copper vessel has a subtle, pleasant taste.
  • A durable, reusable and eco-friendly alternative to disposable plastic bottles – it will last for many years.

Use and safety warnings

  • The product is intended exclusively for clean, cold, still drinking water with neutral pH.
  • Never fill with acidic liquids – water with lemon or citrus, fruit juices, syrups, vinegar, wine, kombucha, apple cider vinegar, milk and dairy drinks, or alcohol. An acidic environment significantly increases the release of copper into the drink.
  • Do not use for hot drinks – tea, coffee or hot water. Copper conducts heat very quickly (risk of burns), and higher temperatures increase the release of copper.
  • Do not cook in the vessel, do not place it in the oven, on the stove or in the microwave, and do not wash it in the dishwasher.
  • Contact time: leave water in the vessel for no more than 8 – 12 hours. Then drink it or pour it out; do not store water in the vessel for a long period.
  • Recommended amount: a maximum of 1 glass (approximately 200 – 250 ml) of water from the copper vessel per day. Do not use the vessel for your daily fluid intake throughout the day.
  • Not suitable for: children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with Wilson's disease or another copper metabolism disorder, people with liver or kidney disease, and people taking food supplements containing copper. If in doubt, consult a doctor before use.
  • Do not use the vessel if its interior is damaged, dirty or covered with a greenish coating (copper patina). Clean it before use.

Cleaning and care

  • Do not wash in the dishwasher. Do not use steel wool, abrasive powders or aggressive chemical cleaners.
  • Regular washing: a soft sponge, mild washing-up liquid and lukewarm water. Then dry the vessel thoroughly.
  • Restoring the shine: apply a mixture of lemon juice and salt (or baking soda) to the surface, gently rub, and immediately rinse thoroughly with clean water. Lemon is used solely as a cleaning agent – never leave it standing in the vessel and never drink this liquid.
  • Always remove any greenish coating (copper patina) before use.
  • Natural darkening of copper and minor colour spots are a characteristic of the material and are not a product defect.
  • Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.

Information about copper

Copper is an essential trace element that the body needs in small amounts. In 2023, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) set the acceptable daily intake of copper from all sources at 0.07 mg per kilogram of body weight, i.e. approximately 5 mg per day for an adult. When the above instructions for use are followed, copper intake from this vessel remains well below this value. Excessive or improper copper intake (particularly when copper comes into contact with acidic liquids) can, conversely, lead to digestive problems, and long-term high exposure can lead to liver damage.

This product is an everyday item intended for contact with drinking water. It is not a medicine, food supplement or medical device and is not intended for the prevention, treatment or alleviation of any disease. Handmade product – each piece is unique and may differ slightly from the photo in shape, tone and surface.
