Product detailed description
Henna (Lat. Lawsonia inermis) is a green shrub that grows wild mainly in southern and south-eastern Asia, the Middle East and northern Africa. Itis characterised by a high colouring capacity, is known as a natural dye, which was already favoured by the ancient Egyptians. Its use is equally widespread in India, where it remains part of (not only) wedding traditions and rituals to this day. Indian brides still have their hands and feet fully painted with henna the day before their wedding. Hindu tradition even attributes healing vibrations to henna.
Henna is obtained from the leaves of the plant. It usually reaches us already in powder form, produced by drying and crushing its leaves. Genuine natural henna is a light green to greenish-brown powder with a characteristic herbal scent, which turns dark brown once mixed with hot water. When using genuine henna, we can achieve a fairly wide colour range (orange, copper-red, red-brown, dark brown).
Henna is a healthy alternative to synthetic, chemically produced dyes for hair, textiles, and even skin. When applied to the skin (for the purpose of decoration or tattooing), pure henna powder is mixed with lemon juice and essential oils. Once mixed, the paste must be left to stand for several hours so that the colouring pigments are released. Compared with chemical hair dyes, henna not only protects our hair but also nourishes it. After using it (even after just the first few applications), hair becomes shinier and softer to the touch. Henna is also effective for hair growth problems, though this effect is only achieved with longer-term (around two years) use. It slightly dries out the hair, which can help get rid of excessive hair greasiness. With long-term use, henna darkens the hair, with hair taking on a darker shade after each application. Besides its dye, henna also contains plant proteins, so it nourishes and regenerates the hair as well. The colour shade of the henna used for dyeing (hair, nails, skin) depends both on how long it is left to stand during preparation and on how long it is left to act on the hair.
Henna Herb Lamda pure is a high-quality, very finely ground powder from Lawsonia inermis leaves with no additional additives; it is characterised by an intense, strong colouring effect and the highest regenerative capacity. The vivid pigments of pure henna give dark hair a warm chestnut to mahogany tone, while on light and medium-brown hair they create intense, vibrant shades of copper to red.
Ingredients (INCI): Henna (Lawsonia inermis)
Packaging: 200 g
Country of origin: Egypt
Not tested on animals.
Use: Pour hot water or a herbal tea infusion over the required amount of henna to form a thick paste. Apply evenly to dry hair and leave to act for at least an hour. Then rinse thoroughly out of the hair with clean water.
TIP: For a more intense development of pigments, you can add ground paprika, hibiscus or red beet juice to the paste.
Warning: Plant-based dye will never lighten the starting colour. If you have a high proportion of grey hair, naturally very light hair, or chemically bleached hair, we recommend doing a so-called two-phase colouring. Do not use shampoo or conditioner for two to three days after dyeing with henna, to allow the colour to settle in the hair. Wait at least 3 weeks between chemical colouring and applying henna. For external use only.
