How coconut cream is made

The cream is made from the flesh of organic coconuts, hand-harvested on fair trade farms. The flesh is pressed in hot water, cooled and then strained. This process produces both coconut milk and cream at the same time - after a while these components separate from each other - the cream rises to the surface, leaving clear watery milk underneath. 

The cream has a very delicate sweet taste. It is sometimes also found under the name coconut butter. And it's reminiscent of raffaello or coconut macaroons!

Coconut cream contains no added ingredients, emulsifiers, sweeteners, guar gum, chemicals or preservatives. It contains no lactose or gluten.

Uses of coconut cream

The cream is thick and has a smooth texture; before use, you can whisk it into hot water or use it directly as it is. It can be used on its own or together with coconut milk.

• The cream can be used to thicken sauces. Add a little cream to the dish and stir until dissolved.
• Soften curries and other spicy dishes - thanks to its cooling nature, coconut slightly reduces the sharpness of dishes.
• You can use it similarly to coconut milk in desserts, simply whisk 50 g of cream into 100 ml of warm water. You can use it to prepare pudding, ice cream and other desserts.
• Coconut products create a feeling of fullness and speed up digestion, which is why they are a popular part of fitness recipes when it comes to maintaining body weight.
• It is a suitable alternative for vegans.
