What is Rustyback Fern?

Rustyback fern (Ceterach officinarum DC., syn. Asplenium ceterach) – also known as „Stone Breaker" – is a fern with a long history of use in traditional European folk medicine. It grows on rocky slopes and walls across Europe and the Mediterranean, where for centuries people have used it mainly in connection with supporting the urinary tract.

Our extract is processed using innovative ultrasonic extraction – a modern technology that uses full extraction of the entire plant material. Unlike classic alcohol extraction, the ultrasonic method achieves a higher yield of natural compounds at lower temperatures, thereby preserving the plant's sensitive phytocomplexes. The product is dissolved in glycerol and water – without any alcohol.

Ultrasonic extraction is a progressive technology that uses sound waves to release from the plant material the maximum amount of natural substances – including flavonoids, phenolic acids (mainly chlorogenic acid) and other polyphenolic compounds characteristic of rustyback fern. The result is a pure, concentrated, alcohol-free extract

Traditional use

Rustyback fern has a rich history in European traditional medicine – ethnobotanical records from the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Europe list it as a plant traditionally associated with supporting urinary tract function. Scientific studies describe the presence of chlorogenic acid as the main phenolic compound and other polyphenolic substances with antioxidant potential in vitro. These findings are the subject of further research; they are not the basis for health claims under EU regulation.

Recommended daily dose

40 drops dissolved in a glass of water, 1–3 times a day.
