They work on a different principle than essential oils, since some of their components are hydrophilic, meaning water-soluble. These components are preserved only in hydrolats (not in essential oils) and are easily absorbed by the human body. Hydrolats also contain more organic acids, which are credited with an anti-inflammatory effect. Hydrolats have an acidic pH and therefore prevent bacterial growth. They are also recommended as a dietary supplement, as their effect is stronger than that of dried herbs.

100% organic hydrolats are among the purest herbal preparations, with a wide range of uses - in the kitchen, in cosmetics production, in baby care, for therapeutic purposes, and for detoxification and activating metabolism. They are very gentle and kind to the human body.  

All hydrolats are made without preservatives or additives. Hydrolats do not contain alcohol.

Ingredients: 100% organic water distillate from the leaves of peppermint (Mentha piperita), sourced from organic farming in Slovakia

External use:

Skin and body: irritated, oily, acne-prone, combination and porous skin

Insect bites, herpes and chickenpox

Cools during hot flushes

Venous and lymphatic system - varicose veins, heavy legs

Analgesic

Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal (Candida) effect

Hair: oily, irritated scalp

Use: Apply twice a day with a spray onto clean, dry skin.

For tired and swollen legs, spray onto the soles of the feet. For migraines, use in a diffuser or spray in the room, or apply as a compress.

Internal use:

Digestion - cramps, motion sickness and nausea, bloating, loss of appetite

Bacterial and viral illnesses, fungal infections

Gargling - freshening breath (used as a mouthwash)

Emotional properties: Promotes clear thinking, dispels confusion and brings us into balance. Refreshes the spirit. It also has a cooling effect emotionally (a "hot head"). According to Ayurveda, it maintains the balance of PITTA energy.

Food and drinks: Adds a fresh taste to fruit salads and chocolate desserts. To give tea a minty flavour, add 1 teaspoon of hydrolat. Suitable for making ice cubes for drinks.

Dosage: Add 1-2 teaspoons (depending on the amount of food and the desired taste) of hydrolat to the food (season after cooking is finished). 1 teaspoon of hydrolat to 1 dcl of water or a drink (take 3 times a day, half the dose for children). 

Processing: main product of steam distillation

Concentration: 1 kg of plants is used to produce 1 litre of distillate. This concentration guarantees the highest quality of hydrolat and the optimal ratio of active substances.

Use: hydrolat certified for external and internal use.

Warnings: Do not use in case of allergy or individual intolerance to the listed ingredients. No preservatives. After opening, store in the fridge. Protect from light.

Contraindications: Due to its menthol content, do not apply this hydrolat to the mucous membranes (e.g. into the nose) of children under 3 years of age.

Uses of hydrolats

In the kitchen

Hydrolats can be added to drinks, smoothies, fruit or vegetable juices, sorbets and ice creams. They are excellent for flavouring salads and sauces, especially spicy hydrolats such as oregano, fennel, rosemary or sage.

Wellness and cosmetics

Hydrolats also make a great facial toner, with a wide choice available - according to skin type. They are also suitable for making cosmetics - clay masks, creams, soaps. Hydrolats can also be used as a steam bath for cleansing the skin, as a compress for tired eyes or after a demanding working day, you can spray hydrolat onto the body and relieve stress while refreshing the body. They are suitable for cleansing and treating the skin, as part of skin care after sun exposure.

Creating atmosphere

Hydrolats do not always have the same scent as the essential oil from a given herb, but they can also be used in aroma lamps or simply sprayed into the room.

Care for infants and young children

Hydrolats are a great help in caring for the skin of infants and young children. They are very gentle and mild. They are also more suitable (compared to 100% essential oils) during pregnancy and breastfeeding, for older and sensitive individuals, and for those who are sensitive to strong scents.

Internal use

Hydrolats are also used for therapeutic purposes, internally to activate metabolism and support detoxification, for respiratory and digestive issues, and so on.

External use

Hydrolats can be used as warm or cold compresses, foot baths, or sitz baths. They can also be applied with a spray directly onto the affected area.

Warning: Hydrolats may cause allergic reactions. Before use, make sure you are not allergic to any of the herbs or their components. For external use, test the product on a small area of skin on the forearm.

The use and consumption of hydrolats is not a substitute for medical examination and treatment in the case of serious illness.

Before using hydrolats, pay attention to any contraindications. Internal use of hydrolats is generally recommended from 3 years of age, unless stated otherwise.
