KIDDY BREATHE – a blend of 100% essential oils for breathing

Kiddy Breathe is a blend that makes breathing easier for children, developed to give the fastest possible relief from a blocked nose, and relief when coughing up phlegm and congestion. It is also suitable as a preventive measure during flu season or during the autumn and winter months, when the respiratory tract is often weakened. 

Mandarin is among the most popular essences for children thanks to its pleasant, sweetish scent, which helps harmonise the body. Lemon is among the most versatile essences, effective against viruses and bacteria, providing energy and refreshment. Fir pairs very well with citrus and helps ease breathing; when diluted with carrier oil, the blend also helps with muscle and joint pain, which often accompanies illness.

The blend is mainly suitable for diffusing, or as part of a bath, or for massaging the chest area and feet.  

Tips for using 100% essential oil blends with children:

100% essential oils are a precious gift of nature; given their strength, they are intended primarily for diffusing and, at the correct dilution, for application to the skin.

Diffusing using a diffuser – for children it is recommended to diffuse for approx. 20 – 30 minutes followed by an equal break (the number of drops depends on the size of the room (5 – 10 drops). Ideal at any time of day, or before sleep.

If you do not have a diffuser, you can drip the blend onto a damp towel and place it on a radiator.

Bath – according to the child's age (dilute 5 – 10 drops with 1 – 2 tablespoons of carrier oil – almond, sesame or coconut), then add the mixed blend to a prepared warm bath. Never drip the essential oil blend directly into the water. The blend needs to be diluted in a fatty carrier, because oil will not mix with water and an undesirable reaction may occur.

Use on the skin – dilute (1 – 5% dilution with carrier oil – e.g. almond, sesame, coconut) and apply to the chest area, neck, or under the nose, behind the ears, or to the feet. Never apply undiluted oil directly to the skin. Before first use, we recommend doing a tolerance test on children.

Recommended dilution of essential oil blends according to the child's age:

under 2 years – hydrolats (hydrosols) are preferred, or a dilution of max. 0.25% in carrier oil.

Using essential oils with children under 2 years is at your discretion; it is advisable to consult an experienced aromatherapist you trust. Different schools of aromatherapy recommend different age limits and hold different views regarding both age and dosage. This is mainly because children's skin and mucous membranes are more sensitive and permeable, so caution is warranted.

2 – 6 years – max. 1% dilution (approx. 6 drops of blend + 30 ml carrier oil)

6 – 15 years – 2 % dilution (approx. 12 drops of blend + 30 ml carrier oil)

Over 15 years – 3% - 5% dilution (approx. 20 – 30 drops of blend + 30 ml carrier oil)
