Goji is the fruit with the highest protein content. It contains 18 different amino acids, including all 8 essential ones that the body cannot produce on its own.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Goji fruit comes from China, and its medicinal effects were known and used as far back as ancient China. Traditional Chinese medicine regards it as a medicinal food, regular consumption of which guarantees a long life full of vitality. They reach us in the form of dried fruits, similar to raisins, with a sweetish yet slightly bitter taste.

Goji is the fruit with the highest protein content. It contains 18 different amino acids, including all 8 essential ones that the body cannot produce on its own. In this sense, this plant is unique – there is no other plant in the world, or more precisely no other fruit, that is so rich in protein. Among all the plants in the world, it also holds first place as the fruit with the highest content of carotenoids, i.e. the pigments that give vegetables and fruit their varied colouring, not only red but also yellow or deep green. Carotenoids are characterised by strong antioxidant properties, and also reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and the occurrence of cancer, especially of the lungs and stomach. Thanks to its high antioxidant content, goji  significantly strengthens the immune system and slows down the ageing process.

Goji also contains complex carbohydrates, after eating which blood sugar levels rise only slowly, meaning there is also no risk of a sudden drop in blood sugar afterwards.

Goji is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. It also contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, 9 and E. A quarter cup of dried goji fruit contains 340% of the daily requirement of vitamin A, so caution is needed when consuming it, in order to avoid hypervitaminosis A. Vitamin B1, known as thiamine, is needed for glucose to be converted into acetylcholine, a substance that transmits signals between nerve cells and is essential for memory and concentration. The simultaneous presence  of vitamins B2 and B6 helps thiamine work more effectively in the body. Together, these three B vitamins ensure healthy nerves and improved memory. A slight thiamine deficiency leads to sugar cravings. By supplying it to the body, you can more easily resist sugary foods, which can help you in your efforts to reduce excess weight. Vitamin B2, known as riboflavin, is needed by the body to produce two vital compounds that convert energy from proteins, carbohydrates and fats into a form that cells can use. This vitamin is also important for the formation of hair, nails and skin. Vitamin B6 improves mood and relieves fatigue. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that neutralises harmful free radicals in the body, and also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease

Besides vitamins, dried goji fruits contain up to 21 minerals and chemical elements, primarily large amounts of iron and zinc, but also other important elements such as calcium, selenium and germanium. Zinc is vital for children's growth, as well as for the proper function of more than 70 enzymes in our body. Increased zinc intake is needed especially by people prone to acne and eczema; a marked improvement is achieved with daily zinc intake over six months. Selenium, a powerful antioxidant, is equally effective against acne. It helps the body bind certain dangerous metals, such as arsenic and mercury, which are toxic to the body. Germanium is an element rarely found in foods, yet it is extremely effective against cancer, while iron forms part of the red blood pigment haemoglobin, which carries oxygen to all the cells of the body. Insufficient iron intake results in fatigue and exhaustion.

Goji, which  we also know as Chinese wolfberry (Lycium chinenis), is therefore a unique food, an irreplaceable dietary supplement that is incredibly beneficial for our body.
