Delicious high-quality long-grain basmati rice. A suitable side dish for sauces and dishes with or without meat.

Detailed information

Product detailed description

Basmati represents the noblest variety of rice, you can treat yourself to. It is grown in India and, after harvesting, is stored for two years to remove all the water. This low water content thus contributes to its better taste, lower stickiness and a shorter cooking time. Basmati is known for its delicious flavour and long grain.

When cooking, you'll appreciate that it doesn't stick. It is very easy to digest and thanks to being gluten-free, it can also be enjoyed by people with coeliac disease. It also contains minimal sugar and has a reduced calorie content (compared to other types of rice), which makes it a great addition to a dietary diet.

The queen of fragrances in Indian cuisine

Basmati rice is also called „Indian champagne" or „the queen of fragrances". It is characterised by a unique aroma and a subtle nutty flavour. Basmati is used to prepare many traditional Eastern and Indian dishes, such as biryani and mujadara, and is also used as a side dish for sauces and meat.

Tip: You can use basmati to prepare tasty meat-free dishes. It goes wonderfully with mung dal or red lentils, especially combined with Indian spices.

How to cook Aarush Basmati rice

Whether you cook basmati rice in a covered or uncovered pot, it is always recommended to rinse the rice beforehand and soak it in lukewarm water for 30 minutes.

Cooking in a covered pot is the most common method. After soaking, drain the rice and put it in a pot with water (1 - 2 cups), season with salt, cover and cook over low heat for 10 - 12 minutes. Then remove it from the heat and leave it covered to finish for a further 7 - 8 minutes.

Cooking in an uncovered pot means that the water evaporates more quickly, so more needs to be added. For 1 cup of rice, therefore add 5 - 6 cups of water. Once the water starts to boil, add the rice and stir gently. Cook over low heat and serve warm.

Unconventionally, you can also use a microwave, where the ratio is 1 cup of rice to 1 - 2 cups of water. Cover the dish and place it in the microwave. Cook for 10 minutes on high power. Then let it stand in the microwave for a further 6 - 7 minutes and serve warm.
